Small Seminar at UGM (Universitas Gadjah Mada) Faculty of Forestry

The international PMRV team members (consultants) are being hosted by UGM. In order to share the preliminary results from PMRV research and discuss the PMRV project in the Indonesian context, a small seminar was held on 11 December 2013, in Yogyakarta. The Vice Dean of UGM Faculty of Forestry, Dr Sigit Sunarto, represented the Dean, Dr. Satyawan Pudyatmoko as the seminar facilitator.
The following presentations from CIFOR were given during the seminar and were followed by discussions with UGM students and professors, and CIFOR scientists:
- Participatory MRV - addressing the scales: an overview. Presented by Manuel Boissière (CIFOR). This was a general overview of the Participatory MRV project.
- PMRV: Governance of Healthcare and Forestry Sector. Presented by Dian Ekowati (CIFOR).Her presentation highlighted the comparison made between the Indonesian health and forestry reporting systems.
- Participatory MRV: Preliminary Social Study Results. Presented by Guillaume Beaudoin, Lina F. Jihadah, Walker DePuy (CIFOR). Their presentation introduced the 3 sites, specific social study research questions, different methods used and some preliminary findings.
- Participatory MRV: Remote sensing and GIS study. Presented by Serge C. Rafanoharana (CIFOR). His presentation was about the preliminary analysis of Landsat and SPOT data (LCC, NDVI), and preliminary outputs from the fieldwork conducted from October to November 2013.
